What's New

Changes ahead for Assist Ireland in 2018
Since its launch in 2005, Assist Ireland has published information on more than 10,000 aids and appliances, had hundreds of thousands of visits to the website, and assisted many people through the email and telephone support service. Over the past twelve years, however, the landscape has changed significantly.
The great majority of people now have access to the internet and many simple appliances can now be picked up in high-street shops. Suppliers have moved with technology and now most suppliers put their products online so that customers can browse and buy with ease. We believe that the role Assist Ireland can play in providing information on aids and appliances has changed.
As a result, we plan to change the service it offers by removing the database of aids and appliances in early 2018. We will also be removing the telephone and email support service.
We will also be placing a new emphasis on information that helps users in choosing suitable aids and appliances, as well as on providing lists of suppliers for specific categories of products, for example, suppliers of dementia care products, suppliers of lifts and stairlifts and suppliers of ramps. Work is already underway to redevelop and redesign the website to ensure that this new structure is as clear and as easy to use as possible.
