Welcome to assistireland.ie. This online resource provides information on assistive technology and a directory of products available from Irish suppliers.
During standard Irish working hours (9am - 1pm and 2pm to 5pm) there is a dedicated information executive to assist you with any queries related to this website and/or any devices and/or assistive technology avail in Ireland.
Assist Ireland adheres to the highest standards in accessibility and usability both from the W3C technical guidelines, branding and actual target audience user testing. We are continuously developing and improving this online resource, so if you have any comments, helpful feedback and/or questions on points of accessibility please forward them to support@assistireland.ie and we will respond.
This skip navigation feature allows the user (using assistive technology such as screen reader and access by keyboard-only) to bypass the top navigation of this site and go straight to the main content section of the page. This means the user does not have to tab through all the navigation links to get to the most important part of each page. The link is hidden from users with graphical browsers.
We have introduced this Change User Preferences feature to easily allow you to change the text size, text style, and text and background colours, in your browser at your own discretion. A similar feature is also available as a built-in option in certain browsers.
This site uses access keys. Access keys are essentially keyboard shortcuts on a web site that give a user quick and easy access to areas of a site using the keyboard instead of the mouse. If you are using Windows pressing the ALT key in combination with the access key will give focus to that specific link on the page. Press Enter to select that link. If you are using a Macintosh computer pressing the CTRL key in combination with the access key will automatically send you to that specific page.
