    This website is aimed at young people with disabilities who are entering or already in further education or employment. It offers guidance to young people, educators and employers on the use and availability of assistive technology in Ireland to enable someone with a disability to access education or the workplace. Launched in September 2006.

  • National Disability Authority (NDA) - IT Accessibility Guidelines

    These guidelines are provided as a resource for producers and procurers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products and services. They aim to give guidance on how to ensure that these IT products and services are accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including people with disabilities. The specific technologies covered by these guidelines are:

    • Websites and online applications
    • Public access terminals such as ATMs, information kiosks, ticket vending machines and information displays
    • Telecommunication devices and services such as desktop telephones and mobile phones
    • Computer application software.
  • www.Try-It.ie
    An online assistive technology loan library. Members can borrow from a wide range of electronic assistive technology devices for a period of up to 4 weeks to trial with end users prior to purchasing. Website also offers members online peer support, product reviews and details of relevant upcoming events.

    The Enable Ireland Assistive Technology Training Services' website contains information on assistive technology options, funding and upcoming training and events.

  • AbilityNet

    AbilityNet is a UK charity that has developed a wide range of resources to help people with disabilities and older people access and get the most out of their computer. The site also has a range of factsheets and skillsheets available online giving detailed information on a wide range of assistive technologies and offering a step-by-step guide to configuring your computer and software to meet your individual requirements.

  • Microsoft Accessibility
    A useful website with information about different high-tech assistive technologies that can help you access your computer and Microsoft products eg Windows, Office and Internet Explorer can be adapted to suit your individual needs and preferences.

  • Apple Accessibility
    This website provides information on accessibility options and features of Apple products such as Mac computers, iPod, iPhone and iPad, as well as the Safari internet browser.
