Funding Assistive Technology

Some assistive technology may be required to assist a person with a disability in their daily living. Other equipment might be required specifically for educational purposes ie to enable a child or student to learn and participate in the classroom. Therefore, depending on the nature and use of the equipment, the main sources of funding the Department of Health and Children and the Department of Education and Skills.

If unsuccessful with securing funding from any of the sources mentioned above and a piece of equipment or assistive technology is purchased privately, a refund of the VAT paid can be sought from Revenue.  For more information, see:
