Equipment Hire

A variety of equipment, including wheelchairs, hospital beds, hoists and walking aids can be hired for daily, weekly or monthly periods. Below find a list of suppliers that hire out this type of equpment in Ireland as well as information on what to consider before hiring equipment. The list features companies that have contacted Assist Ireland to inform us of the equipment they rent, therefore the list is not exhaustive. What to consider before hiring equipment:

• Does the company provide a delivery and/or collection service and, if so, are there any additional charges?
• Does the company ask for a deposit and is it refundable?
• If hiring long term, is the equipment subject to a six-monthly service and, if so, will a replacement be provided in the meantime?
• Who is responsible for maintenance eg if you hire a wheelchair and get a puncture?
• If you are hiring a wheelchair for holiday use, are you permitted to take the vehicle overseas? Are there additional charges, and/or an increase in the deposit needed?
• Are you obliged to take out insurance? Is this included in the price, and what does the insurance cover?
• When hiring a wheelchair, make sure you understand how to operate it and feel confident using it; and make sure you receive instructions on how to charge the batteries (if required) and carry out other simple maintenance.
