More information about Enable Ireland

Enable Ireland is a leading national provider of services for people with physical disabilities and their families. With over 15 regional centres, we currently provide services for approximately 2,200 children and 200 adults. We employ approximately 500 staff.  Our CEO is Fionnuala O'Donovan, based in Head Office, Sandymount. Our Regional Director of Service is Theresa Compagno, based in our Cork services. Our National High Tech AT Service was established in 2001, and is staffed by 1 manager, 2.5 technicians, based in Galway, Cork/Kerry and Dublin, and administrative support. Its mission is to enable those who use Enable Irelands services to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities.

Central to Enable Ireland's provision of services is the Social Model of Disability. This model focuses attention on the person not the impairment. Access, inclusion and equality are considered entitlements, for people with physical disabilities as for people without. The fundamental nature of these rights impacts and informs all aspects of our activities and determines the approach we take to offering services.
