Goniometers measure the range of motion in certain joints, like the fingers and toes. The device is placed over the joint and when it is flexed the angle is recorded to indicate the range of motion.
These goniometers are made from transparent plastic, so they are easy to read. Because of the transparency, a therapist can observe the joint as it moves through the range of motion. They have a linear measurement scale, in inches and centimetres, except for the 15cm Goniometer, which is a metric goniometer.
