Polyform Splinting Material

This stretchable splinting material is designed for hand-based splints. The material is cut to size and moulded to the users hand to make a fitted splint. The material can be cut easily at room temperature so precise pattern cutting is not necessary. A temporary bond can be achieved by pressing two heated sections together.

Heating the 3.2mm material for one minute at 65° Celsius gives approximately three to five minutes working time before the bond sets. For a permanent bond, remove the coating on the material by scraping it away with a knife, or using spirits. Solid or perforated sheets of Polyform are available in various sizes. The Polyform Light Splinting Material is also available. This material is 1.6mm thick, half the thickness of the standard sheet.
